Crimes and violence against Afghan women have increased in the past six months by 28 percent. Many of these involve extremely heinous crimes involving torture, honor killing, hanging, public executions, mutilation, murder, etc. which are reflective of Taliban influence and instigation.
We, the undersigned, call upon the international community, UN Agencies in Afghanistan, and the Government of Afghanistan through President Hamid Karzai to immediately convene a multi-sector dialogue and come up with concrete measures to immediately stop criminalities against Afghan women, including those that are instigated by Taliban.
