Ghana health service
Region:
Ghana

We, the nurses of Ahafo–Ano Government hospital of Ghana Health Service, petition the Authorities of the Hospital to get our salaries paid by the government of the republic of Ghana through the Controller and Accountant General.

We have been employed with appointment letters and have assumed full duty for more than a year and have not received any salary. More also, we have not heard anything about our salaries from the hospital authorities whilst our colleges from different health facilities of Ghana Health Service have receive their salaries long time ago.

What we know about the delay of our salary is:

1. Human resource personal is working on our Establishment Warrant (EW) instead of an accountant.

2. The human resource personal has refused to use ours banks with her personal reason.

3. Some of the offices could not pay for the money she requested in order to process the EW’s.

4. The general office has issue a warning to sanction anyone whose makes a follow-up on his /her salary at the ministries.

5. This issue has cause both social and economic stress on your officers at our post in delivering our duties. Not to mention but of few;

1. With the current increased cost of living, we cannot afford our basic livelihood; - transportation, accommodations, health, feeding and etc.
2. We own the banks with the loans we took for sustenance, which are to be paid with our hopes that the salaries would be paid within a year.
3. Our rent advances are due now and we being forced to vacate our rooms.
4. Our bankers are sending us to the court.
5. We can help our families as well.

Now, the government recent policy to pay only three months of salary arrears has affected us whilst our other colleges (even our predecessors) have received their back-pay.

In view of these, we demand that the Hospital Authorities get our salaries paid fully by the end of August, 2014.

The undersigned officers would like to bring your attention to the above problem, for immediate action to be taken.
