Improve our living conditions and stop slum lords

Hi. My name is Stephanie Edwards. I am a single mother of 7 and has lived in Chicago All my life. I have lived in quite a few places and has had to deal with slum lords quite often with no resolution to really help my family and I.

I now live in a place where there are over 40 apartments in one court way and we are living in conditions that are unhealthy for our children as well as ourselves. We are dealing with mice, roach and bed bug infestations. This is not an isolated infestation, The "ENTIRE" building is infested. You can sometimes see the mice playing in the hallways that leads to outside. We are being eaten alive and all of our furniture is ruined. They say "just move"! For some people its not that simple. Yes we've been trying to save but it doesn't help that we now have to start all over with beds, furniture etc.......

It's not right that our families have to endure being bitten. I find mice droppings In my food cabinets, under my microwave that is on my kitchen counter. I've witnessed a mouse rum across my sons bed while he was still in it. I've been thru everything in this apartment from mold growing on top of the carpet, to walls forming sink holes to my current situation with the bed bugs and now i/we want justice!
