Every day thousands of vehicles and thousands of individuals are granted driving licenses. In the cities, towns and villages, pedestrian, cyclists, motorists, handcarts, roadside vendors fight for the same space.
We have antiquated motoring rules. The Law makers and enforcement agencies are grossly incompetent in carry out their duties. Result - unruly motorists, utter chaos and unsafe, dangerous situation on the roads endangering lives of millions of our citizens.
There is No Traffic Engineering visible esp. in cities. Unruliness and chaos on our roads have reached epidemic proportions. This has to STOP and we have to call ourselves a civilized nation.
Bar the registration of new vehicles and issuance of new driving licenses indefinitely after giving the Government of India adequate timeline for introducing strong proper Motor Vehicles and Driving Rules, bringing effective Traffic Engineering and ensuring these are made effective with strong enforcement and agencies made accountable.
