This petition is to let the Leaders of Belleville and Quinte West know that the residents of these and surrounding communities are opposed to a Casino being built in either city.
We wish to keep our "small town" atmosphere, and are concerned about the damage the casino will have on families. There is no evidence that casinos help communities, and we do not wish to experiment with ours.
We should remember that for every one person that benefits from a job there, he/she will be taking the money from countless people. The surrounding areas receive none of the revenue but face all of the debt and gambling addictions that will inevitable come.
It is our opinion that the negative social effects of a casino will far out weigh any positive.
We, the undersigned, call upon the leaders of our city to hear the voices of concern from the people you serve regarding a Casino in our city, be it Belleville or Quinte West, and ask that you NOT approve that a casino be built in either of these cities.
