Mining companies such as Centius Gold, Altius Mining and Anchor Resources have begun exploration into the possibility of developing open-cut gold mining in the Eastern Dorrigo,Karangi and Coramba regions.
Environmental concerns include leaching of dangerous chemicals into our water systems, the destruction of our beautiful forests,and the increase of excessive number of trucks and heavy machinery on our roads.
"We, the undersigned, call upon all local, state and federal governments to help stop all further exploration and future open-cut mining in the Eastern Dorrigo and Orara Valley regions. The effects from open-cut mining would be detrimental to both our environment and our community".
