Background (Preamble):
Starting May 1, 2009, if you live in the NYCHA housing projects you will be able to own only one dog as long as it’s not any of 27 different breeds of dogs they have listed as banned nor will you be able to own a dog that when an adult, will weigh over 25 pounds. This is down from the previous limit of 40 lbs.
Animal shelters are overcrowding and the housing authorities didnt even warn us. Many dogs are being taken away and there owners are crying. Tenants either have to find a new home for there beloved pets or there dogs will be put in an animal shelter.

Petition:
We the people ask for a 90 day extension on registering our dogs. It will benefit the owners of the dogs and the animal shelters themselves. Most dogs do not hurt others.... and the only reason for the ban of dogs over 40 pounds is because housing thinks they will harm other people.
