Stop experiments on Beagle dogs

Background (Preamble):
Thousands of Beagle dogs and puppies are used in laboratory experiments and tests in the U.K. and Europe each year, often being poisoned and gassed - their paws taped together and gas nozzles fitted over their muzzles - they are fully conscious and of course terrified. Organizations (e.g. SHAC) have photos showing the terrible suffering caused.
Beagle dogs are bred for research, one place is in Leicestershire, and sold on to research labs - surplus 'stock' that means DOGS can also be just killed off at the rate of 60 a day and even puppies are sold for research to clients. (BUAV website) All of these establishments can hide behind archaic legislation which allows this.

Petition:
The British government Animal Procedures Committee report back in 1990 stated that replacements to animals are more accurate and more efficient yet experiments and research on dogs (and cats) still continues so we the undersigned ask for urgent new legislation to ban all experiments and testing on dogs (and cats).
We the undersigned believe experiments and testing on dogs and cats are medieval, outmoded, inhumane, unethical, and unnecessary. Not in our name!
