The Illinois Department of Human Services is the only state agency recommended for major cuts of $412 million dollars or 11% in FY 12.
This cut in funding will drastically impact services to those with developmental disabilities, mental health, child care, and home services.
The total cuts in DHS grants to community providers between FY 09 and FY 12 is $864 million. Of all state agencies being cut in FY 12 only DHS is being cut for the third year in a row.
Your signing this petition will tell our Governor and Legislators that these catastrophic cuts to our most vulnerable fellow Illinois Citizens are not acceptable.
We, the undersigned, request that Illinois Governor Pat Quinn and members of the General Assembly continue funding the Illinois Department of Human Services at levels not less than in Fiscal Year 2011 in order to continue essential life supports to our fellow Illinois citizens.
