We feel that beauty pageants exploit children and are in the interest of the mothers and not the children themselves.
We would like to see age restrictions (16+) placed on pageant contestants to ensure full consent. We oppose promoting physical beauty as a main value, and not allowing children to play with dolls, but instead, turning them into live Barbies.
We, the undersigned, call on the Governor of California to enforce age restrictions (16+) to contestants entering Beauty Pageants.
