Stop Cats From Being Gassed to Death at Coastal Animal Services, North Cowichan, BC

This petition is in memory of Mrs. Jean Martin, a friend to all animals and who left us far too soon in August, 2009. Jean was instrumental in finding a clause in a contract of yet another gassing pound, the Nanaimo pound. Their contract, which stated they must use lethal injection – not the gas box to which the staff had gone back to using. Way to go Jean – we miss you so very much.
From June 2009:
“Some good news on the animal front! The Nanaimo city council voted unanimously to ban the use of the gas box to kill cats. I had the chance to address the council before the vote. Until June 15, gas boxes were used on cats and lethal injection on dogs.”

We, the undersigned, demand the owner of Coastal Animal Services of BC Ltd to immediately stop killing cats in the gas box and to dismantle it.
The cats should be taken to the veterinarian for humane euthanasia that will end their lives peacefully and with no suffering. Please help to stop the unnecessary suffering of these cats by signing today.
