Sports Items for Uniform

The sports outerwear items should be in uniform at SAHS because:
• They provide school spirit
o They are school colors (navy, gold, white)
o They have the school logo (“Summit Academy”, “SAHS”, or the bear)
• They advertise
o Throughout the school
o Throughout the community

We represent the school as students; we should be able to represent the school as athletes.
• Sports
o Some sports require jackets as part of the team uniform (Ex. Softball- jackets) so those items should be able to be part of the school uniform
o Multiple jackets are purchased. Whether it be because of a new year, new style or new sport.
• Costs
o Parents spend their money on said items which goes to the school
 Costs for each team, each item
o If parents spend this money they would like the items to be a part of the uniform here.

While at times it is a choice to buy sports items, parents support the school when it is not required. The school should support us back by allowing these items to be in uniform.
• Administration
o The administration has to approve the orders for the sports team items. If they are approved by admisinstation to be ordered for the team and be part of the team uniform or “Spirit Pack” they should be in uniform in school
o The items look clean cut just as uniform standards require and match

o Other schools of our type (private/charter) allow sports items to be in their uniform (Ex. Juan Diego, Waterford)
o Letterman jackets (which are individualized and custom made) which are done outside of the school, are in SAHS uniform
 Letterman jackets are very similar in style to Softball jackets, which are done through the school, yet are not in uniform
o The SAHS zip-up jacket with hoods are in uniform but SAHS hoodie pull overs that are for sports are not

On game days, we should be able to wear the teams sports jersey (if sport has one) because:
• The team matches- dress up doesn’t
• It’s a uniform- team uniform- this is a uniform school
• School spirit
• Advertises games- which encourages fellow students to support the team and exhibit school spirit
• Distinguishes which sport you play because of uniform- dress up you have no idea
• Dress up no body matches not even remotely especially not in a uniform standard
• Dress up can have interpretation complications (ex. Lengths, coverage, sheerness)
• Dress up can be distracting.
