Review Sophomore Housing 2013-2014

Recently, a decision has been made by the Miami University Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, the Housing Options, Meals, & Events Office, along with the Office of Ethics and Student Conflict Resolution to relocate the housing of those members of the Zeta Nu Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta upon suspension for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year.

This being said, all members of the Fraternity who signed a contract for living in Ogden Hall during the 2013-2014 school year (approx. 30), have now been asked to relocate in accordance with section 2.2.B of the Student Code of Conduct which states, "Suspension of a student organization or fraternity or sorority is a revocation (withdrawal) of university recognition. During a period of revocation, the fraternity forfeits all the rights and privileges offorded to them by University policy.” This being said, Miami University has designated Living Learning Communities with their residence halls and recognized sororities have the privilege of living in a “sorority corridor”.

Due to the fact that Alpha Xi Delta will not be recognized during the 2013-2014 academic year, they will not have a designated corridor. However, with the overflow of housing for the upcoming academic year, the women of Alpha Xi Delta were placed in a non-“sorority” dorm hall. Therefore, it is in our best interest to stay in our designated rooms, which we signed the Housing Contract for.

Since, in light of recent events, we will no longer be recognized as a sorority organization, the corridor in which we are living will also no longer be a sorority corridor. That being said, there is no reason as for why everyone should be relocated, as we are no longer affiliated with Miami University.
