Category: Roads & Transport
Region: United Kingdom
Target: Association of Greater Manchester Authorities
Description/History:
Greater Manchester Authorities are seeking to implement a congestion charging scheme against the wishes of the overwhelming majority of the people and businesses in the area. We believe that the proposed new tax is regressive, discriminatory and will severely harm the economy and competitiveness of the city.

The city's authorities are behaving in the most undemocratic way possible in their attempts to railroad this grossly unpopular scheme through.
Petition:
We, the Undersigned, Petition the Authorities of Manchester to scrap the Congestion Charge scheme.

The Association of Greater Manchester Authorities' Congestion charge plans are both discriminatory and regressive. They will put the economy of Manchester at a severe disadvantage and will isolate its citizens from the rest of the country.
