Review operation of School Bus LEHTWP

We, the undersigned, agree with the attached letter.

This letter is written from a concerned parent of a preschooler about to embark on kindergarten this September.

To start out I want to say what a lovely school experience we have had thus far. My daughter absolutely loves going to school, she looks forward to singing nursery rhymes on her bus with “Mr. Bill” and she can’t wait to tell me about all the exciting things she learned with Mrs. Cucinello and Mrs. Sulzmann.
With that said, I need to express my upmost concern for the upcoming years being transported to and from George J Mitchell (as well as Frog Pond). Am I accurate in understanding that my 5year old will be traveling on a bus with 12 year olds? I was told that kindergarten through grade six is all lumped together on a single bus. Now, I’m sure I don’t need to run down the line of enormous diversities, both emotionally and physically, that this seven years difference brings. My daughter, as well as so many other 5 year olds, is not allowed to say words like “stupid, hate, butt, jerk, idiot, etc” , nor has she ever heard swear words or watch shows such as Sponge Bob, Family Guy, The Simpsons, etc. She is a young innocent child and I’d like to keep her that way as long as feasible.

When you mix children of such a great age gap, it introduces the younger kids to words, actions, and experiences they would not normally be introduced to until much later in life. I want to keep my child naive as long as humanly possible, and I’m sure if you are a parent you could understand completely. She has many years ahead of her to grow, mold and transition into an adolescent; I don’t want her prematurely disturbed.

I ask of you to please reconsider the bussing situation. Kindergarten through 3rd grade would be a more equivalent mix and therefore fourth through sixth would be a more comparable group.

I am in the beginning stages of forming a Facebook petition in an attempt to dissolve this wreckless situation, however I am hopeful that maybe it could be rectified with coming directly to you.
