H. Res. 106 (Affirmation of the United States Record on the Armenian Genocide Resolution) is nothing more than political posturing.

The events described in the bill took place between 1913 and 1915, and were perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire, which was fully disbanded when modern Turkey came into being with the rise of Kemal Attaturk in 1923.

While the slaughter of Armenians during the first World War at the hands of the Ottoman Empire may well have BEEN genocide (and I personally believe it to be true), the timing of this resolution is inappropriate, and nothing good can come of it.

The timing of this bill is strictly political, and without a GOOD reason to point fingers at dead men, the House's time may be better spent in finding ways to ease political tensions in the area, rather than raise them.

We, the undersigned, call upon the United States House of Representatives to withdraw H. Res 106 (Affirmation of the United States Record on the Armenian Genocide Resolution), or explain in plain terms WHY they have chosen to do this NOW.

While the allegations of this Resolution may well be true, there is no good that can possibly come from passing it, and much harm in the form of cutting off military supply lines and eliminating strategic bases of operation in modern Turkey.
