Unfortunately this petition did not succeed. However, the student union has done a deal with First to introduce a student return ticket.
Background (Preamble):
First York who run the ftr service to the University have now increased the fares on the service.
Previously it was £1.50 for a single journey (University to City/Station) and £2.50 for a return ticket.
Now they are charging £1.80 for a single ticket (University to City/Station) and £2.90-£3.50 for a return.
This is quite a raise in price, with single ticket raised by 20%; and return ticket raised 16%+.
As this is the student bus service, the raise in price is really quite a lot and far more than inflation rate.
30p or 40p may not seem like much but don't forget, it all adds up, and you're also paying more for the SAME quality service as before.
