Little Ladybirds Playgroup in Earl Shilton is due to close in August 2016. The playgroup has been managed by Alison O'Flynn since 2006, initially at St Christophers Church Hall and since 2011 on the Heathfield Academy site.

There has been a playgroup in the area for over 40 years and as it serves a deprived area, the childcare facility is desperately needed in the area. The playgroup was awarded a Capital Grant by Leicestershire Education Authority to move to the Heathfield Academy site in 2011 as it was deemed important to maintain in a deprived area.

However, due to Heathfield Academy moving to the William Bradford site and joining The Midland Academy trust, the Heathfield site is due to close in August 2016.

The playgroup still in the deprived area, has been told by the LEA it is unable to stay open on the site which will remain closed until any decisions will be made regarding it's future.

The nearest childcare facility will be at least a 20 minute walk from Newlands Primary School which is the areas main feeder school. No one seems to understand how valuable this childcare setting is in the area.

We, the undersigned, call on the Leicestershire Education Authority and local MP's to help us save Little Ladybirds Playgroup because it is such an important childcare facility in the area and would be an immense loss to the current children who attend and also future children too.
