Currently, District 26 finds itself in financial debt of 1.8 million. Along with declining student enrolment, the district must make some difficult structural changes.
All areas of the community will be impacted if neighborhood schools are eradicated: this will negatively impact the academic, housing property values and emotional well-being of all involved.
We the undersigned ask that the School Board of District 26 continues to deliver curriculum to our students by continuing to operate MAPLEWOOD Elementary and save our Neighborhood schools.
We ask that MAPLEWOOD, as a School Of Excellence, and historical landmark remain protected and operating. We support moving the 5/6th grade students back to their home schools.
We also support a referendum that will maintain fiscal responsibility, quality education for all of our students and a balanced budget.
