Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council is closing down Keele's current on-campus Farmers Market because of apparent competition with the Farmers Market in Newcastle.
We feel that this is unfair as our research has found that those who use Keele's market would not use Newcastle's market regardless of any closure and that the two markets are not in direct competition.
We stand for students' right to easily accessible, affordable, fresh and healthy food. We stand against the Council's closure of our market which has been based on no research and without discussion with the Students Union.
We, the undersigned, call on Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council to change their decision to close our on-campus Farmers Market.
