Revoke the Michigan Driver Responsibility Fee |

Published by Mark Schmitz on May 12, 2008
Category: Government
Region: United States of America
Target: The General Public
Description/History:
Since its inception, the Driver Responsibility Fee has been an unjust and unethical way for the Michigan Government to collect finance.
One simple arguement: If we (the average state citizen) violate a small traffic law then we are held responsible. This is understandable. However, two or three consecutive times is not. One violation, one fine. Two or three violations, then two or three fines.
And if we are the responsible drivers, who is responsible for the roads. Our tax money and the collection of these fines do nothing to fix our roads. If not the roads, then our vehicles perhaps?

Petition:
We, the undersigned, call for the state of Michigan to eliminate the driver responsibility fees.
If this is unsatisfactory or unattainable, then we call upon the state of Michigan to utilize this extortion money to fix our roads, schools, and communities.
