Over 40% of Egyptians live on less than $2 a day. The wealth that Mubarak unlawfully accumulated over his years in power will help pay off Egypt%u2019s enormous debt, which surpasses $30 billion. The remaining money will be used to rebuild our country. There are projects already being put forward by patriotic Egyptians who want to contribute pro-actively in areas such as desert development.
In addition to wide-spread extreme poverty, the Egyptian people have been tortured and killed under the umbrella of the emergency law, which has been in effect since 1980. The law also allows suspension of basic human rights and legalizes censorship.
Last but in no way least, Gamal Mubarak had authoritative power in Egypt. Consequently, he is equally responsible as Mubarak senior in spreading corruption throughout the country. He must be brought to justice and not allowed to preside in any country living by the values of justice and democracy.
After decades of dictatorship and oppression, the Egyptian people are entitled to a decent life, dignity and social justice. Be a part of this honorable cause. Make a difference.
We the undersigned demand the following:
1. The financial assets of the Mubarak family and those of other members of his regime (including those hidden in accounts under other names) should be immediately frozen without any delay.
2. This money should be immediately returned to the people of Egypt without delay to commence rebuilding and reforming our country.
3. Former President, Hosni Mubarak, should be trialled under the International Law for his crimes against humanity over the past 30 years, even though Egypt was never a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and even if it requires changing the laws of the ICC.
4. Gamal Mubarak and any other members of the regime who attempt to leave Egypt should not be granted asylum in any other country, particularly those claiming to rule based on a democratic system that recognizes human rights.
