#Rail Transport
Target:
Bath & North East Somerset Unitary Authority
Region:
United Kingdom

The line was originally opened in 1854 and closed in the 1980's. There were many communications with B&NES between 1998 and 2002 and the conclusion was that a rail corridor would be retained at the Radstock site.

Unfortunately, now B&NES are insisting on building 210 houses across the former railway land which would completely wreck any chance of a railway, now, or at any time in the future.

The building of houses in this location is also counter to the Regional Spatial Strategy (no parallel increase in jobs, no improvement in transport infrastructure and not identified as an area for key residential housing development). There is no particular attention to the environment, flora or fauna or the fact that Radstock is a Conservation Area.

The rest of the link is in Mendip D.C. (Somerset) who are enthusiastic, the only obstacle to a complete link is B&NES.

We, the undersigned, call on Bath & North East Somerset to change their policies and instead support a rail link to Frome which would provide regeneration for Radstock in the form of visitors and facilities for inward and outboundbound commuting.
