Region: Finland

Petition Background (Preamble):

The course Research Methods in JAMK University of Applied Sciences in the spring semester of 2012 was filled with complications.

First, the work load in our opinion was too high considering the amount of compensation we get (5 ECTS). We believe that the amount of time spent on the video interviewing, analysing that data and then preparing a report and a presentation COMBINED with the highly demanding thesis proposal was too much for one course alone.

Second, information flow throughout the course was often confusing and frustrating. For example, info whether only Optima or mobile learning course content as content to be used in the exam remained unclear for a long time. This caused problems and unnecessary stress among many of the students.

Petition:

We hope that the lecturer of the course understands the meaning of our constructive criticism and/or revises the evaluation process in the light of these issues.

(Additional ECTS have also been discussed, as on many students the personal amount of time has surpassed the 125-155 hours maximum amount).
