The sidewalks in Batesburg-Leesville, along Hwy. 1 were constructed by SCDOT in 1934. The latest drawings held at SCDOT are from 1929, as they have not been updated. The sidewalks are in desperate need of repair, as they are used by many people who reside in the town of Batesburg-Leesville.
Accidents have occurred as a result of cracks in the sidewalks. Additionally, these sidewalks are used extensively during the annual SC Poultry Festival, by people who park and walk to various activities and restaurants.
We, the undersigned, call on the town of Batesburg-Leesville, SC to repair the sidewalks along Highway 1, stretching from the corner of Hendrix and Highway 1 to Main Street in the Leesville Historic District.
