ICON Shoes is using Buddha's pictures for its designs in Open Back Mule, Low Wood Heel Clog and Open Back Dress Slide shoes.

Buddha has attained enlightenment and is a revered figure for millions of people around the world. It is utterly inappropriate to use Buddha's pictures or anything relating to Buddhism as footwear. It is downright rude, disrespectful and insulting to Buddhism and all Buddhists across the world. It shows how ignorant and discriminatory ICON Shoes is to its worldwide consumers who may hold different religious views.

We strongly condemn the design of footwear using Buddha and Buddhism in ICON Shoes.
We, the undersigned, call on the American Apparel & Footwear Association to:
(1) Eliminate the use and sale of all apparel & footwear designs relating to Buddhism with immediate effect.
(2) Demand ICON shoes to issue a public apology to all Buddhists across the world.
(3) Release a public statement on the outcome.
