This petition is closed and we would like to thank everyone who signed the petition to have Mr. Marvin Parker reinstated at Dunbar High School. Mr. Parker has accepted another position at another DC Public High School but he will continue to be the Girls' Track Team Head Coach. Again, thanks so much for your support.
A petition for the reinstatement of Marvin D. Parker, access employee at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Washington, DC. We feel he is being assessed for personal reasons and not professional and should be reinstated immediately.
Mr. Parker has received four highly effective impact scores. As a Dean of Students/Administrative Officer he has shown exemplary loyalty and has gone above and beyond the call of duty whereas it pertains to our students to include:
-Home visits
-Counseling
-Tutoring
Mr. Parker has never missed a day at work in 4 years. He's also the Dunbar girl’s track and field coach and has 48 championships and the average grade point average is 3.5. He has sent 100% of his graduating athletes to college on full scholarships. He is also the subject of front page article in the Washington post (up for the competition) and was published December 24, 2008.
Mr. Parker is very instrumental in transitioning from the old Dunbar to the new by volunteering countless hours (unpaid). Again we are petitioning for Mr. Parker to be reinstated because he is a vital part of the changing culture of Dunbar school.
We, the undersigned, call on Washington DC, Chancellor Kaya Henderson, Mayor Vincent Gray, City Council Kenya McDuffie and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton to reinstate Mr. Marvin Parker, employee at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.
We feel he is being assessed for personal reasons and not professional and should be consider for reinstated immediately.
