The dangerous dogs act 1991 has completely failed to achieve its 3 simple aims which were;

1. it was supposed to reduce dogfighting, but its now at its highest rate in decades.

2. it was supposed to reduce dog attacks, but dog attacks have increased by 50%.

3. it was supposed to prevent people from being killed by dogs, but 3 children have been killed in the past couple of years alone.

It's not a question any more, the dangerous dogs act needs to change! It focused far to much more breed and post event. I think it should focus on responsible ownership and preventative measures for dogs that show unprovoked aggression. as well as teach dog safety.

I believe that if a dog aggressive, it should be spayed or neutered to prevent it being bred. not only that, but studies show that castrating a dog improves its behaviour an average of 70%.

It should also be seeing a dog trainer or behaviourist to improve its behavior. Their also needs to be far harsher punishments for those who fight dogs.

We, the undersigned, want the dangerous dogs act to be changed as follows:

1. all breeds and types be removed from section 1 and no laws or restrictions or sections be added or made which are breed or type specific.

2. the police and dog wardens to have more power, to place leash and muzzel orders on dogs that show signs of unprovoked aggression before the dog injures someone.

3. police and dog wardens to be able to make orders for dogs that shows unprovoked aggression to be spayed or neutered, to prevent breeding of aggressive dogs.

4. dogs that show unprovoked to undergo training with a dog trainer or behaviorist.

5. we want children to be taught dog safety and how to interact safely with dogs at school, as children are often the victims of dog attacks.

We also want far harsher punishments for those who fight dogs. A prison sentence between 6-10 years and a ten year ban on keeping pets once the prison sentence is complete and a life long ban on keeping any breed with dog fighting history.
