Our husbands whom are also from Fiji are serving in the British Army. As soldiers they fight along side english men and women. They are treated as equal. Our husbands have all signed on to do 22years and more. Most of them have been serving for over 10years. They have been on duties and operations to Afghan, Iraq, Kosovo, Falkland’s, Northern Ireland and many more, representing her majesty in the front line.

We the wives and children have joined them here in the United Kingdom from Fiji. Some of us have been here for 10years and more. Unfortunately we still hold Fiji passports and are required to pay for visas to remain here. Many of us work part/full time to help with the income. Times are hard as our husbands are mostly away 6months with in the year to either tours abroad, exercises here and abroad and courses.

When we made the decision to join our husbands, we understood what we were getting ourselves into. But i draw the line at paying £1,100 from £375 for a 4 year visa to stay in this country, especially while my husband is a serving soldier.

We are hard-working people and we pay our taxes and to this I refuse to pay this outrageous fee.

We, the undersigned, call on Prime Minster David Cameron to reduce the cost of visas and to quicken the processing of British passports for us common wealth soldiers and our families whom have been here for 5 years or more.
