Chambless Field in Mart, Texas served as the football field home of the Mart Panthers and the heart of the community since 1930. That is until the Mart ISD Athletic Complex was opened in 2008 and Chambless was reduced to an overgrown field of rubble as the stands, press box, lights, and scoreboard were all liquidated.
The field itself, chain link fences, concession stand, and locker rooms are all that remain of the once illustrious venue. The Mart Community Project wants to rebuild Chambless Field into a park to re-establish it as the community hub it once was. Mart ISD has indicated the possibility of donating Chambless Field to our cause.
The Mart Community Project believes that to be the best course of action.
We, the undersigned, support the Mart Community Project and their efforts to transform Chambless Field into a park including features to be defined by the people of the Mart community.
We also support any motion by the Mart Independent School District to donate the Chambless Field property to the project for the aforementioned reason.
