Lots of problems when patients use this service starting from when you try to ring to make an appointment. They never pick up the phone.

When you do finally get an appointment and arrive at reception, there is not one member of staff that can sign and there is a massive lack of deaf awareness even when they know you are struggling to understand them, i.e they don't look at you when speaking to you, makes no effort to make it easier for you.

When you have finally signed in at reception, they tell you to sit and and wait to be called. You get called by the staff member standing in front of reception and calling out your name.... we can't hear them!

Also, the drop in repair service has been scrapped and this affects us that rely so much on our hearing aids. You ring up on the day, you can pretty much be guaranteed that it won't be repaired that the same day!

Dread going to the hearing centre because of how difficult it is going there? Want to see improvement? Think staff should receive deaf awareness training and put it to practice?

Want members of staff to be able to use sign language to communicate with you? Want to see the return of the drop in repair sessions as well as being able to make appointments?

If you answer yes to all of the above then it would be a huge help if you could sign our petition.

Or if you are a relative of someone who uses this service or anyone in the general public that feels strongly about this then please also sign!
