The Waskom ISD is not renewing the contract of Band Director, Mr. Micheal Sullivan, due to the number of band members decreasing. The School Board knows that the Waskom High School band has been better in competition this year, but they don't care about the quality, they care about the quantity of the people.
Mr. Sullivan and his wife, Penny Sullivan (Theater Director, and Speech teacher), spend most of their time at the school. Both have outstanding school spirit, and both are loved by many other teachers, students and community members.
The loss of Mr. Sullivan would be a huge loss to both the middle and high school, and the community itself.
We, the student body, ask the Waskom ISD to renew the contract of Mr. Michael Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan spends most of his time and effort at Waskom Middle School and Waskom High School, along with his wife, Mrs. Penny Sullivan.
The loss of Mr. Sullivan will affect the Band and any other organization Mr. Sullivan takes part in.
In conclusion, we ask that you reconsider your decision.
