According to an all-campus email sent moments ago, the 150 foot tower will be reduced by 40 feet during. The reason behind the reduction is "to address a potential safety hazard related to the loosening brick," the email states.
That is not enough reason to harm this 150 year old beautiful piece of Vassar's history. The smokestack dates back to the 1860s when the school first opened.
People signing this petition would be agreeing to support the idea that Vassar administration should either find another way to ensure safety or create a contract promising the reconstruction of the monument.
