The police in Elizabeth City NC have a habit of profiling young black males in our community. They profile, harrass and label them as gang members or drug dealers. They also charge a lot of these youth for bogus crimes.
Whenever the police charge these youths with a crime and they can't find witnesses or sufficient evidence against them, they serve indictments on them.
A police officer's job is to serve and protect our communities not harrass or profile our youths.
We the citizens of Elizabeth City call on the Attorney General to investigate the misconduct of the Elizabeth City Police Department.
We demand the targeting, profiling, harrassment and bogus charges be stopped.
