#City & Town Planning
Target:
Hellen Zille, Premier of the Western Cape
Region:
South Africa

The proposed harbour at Plett will change our town forever and set precedents for what kind of development is acceptable here. If we allow this to happen, not only will we lose Plett's no:1 family beach, but we will also pave the way for other mega-developments to litter our other beaches.

The following land uses are proposed:

Residential: 482 units in 8 separate buildings with heights ranging from 3 to 7 floors, and with a total floor space of 64 049 m²;

Penthouses: The top floors of certain of the residential blocks to have 10 penthouses totalling 1 400 m²;

Offices: Offices and commercial space totalling 1 343 m²;

Bungalows: A total of 17 bungalows are proposed along the Central Beach strip with the total land area occupied being 4 080m²;

Hotel:A 110 room five-star hotel of approximately 6 600m²;

Retail: Retail and commercial space along the northern shore totalling 8 700 m²;

Other:A plaza, yacht club, NSRI facility and general use areas totalling 1 450 m²;

Light Industry: Provision for light industry which would probably be fishing orientated with 750 m² provided;

Basement Parking: Parking within or below the uildings with 644 parking bays over an area of 16 068 m²;

Open Parking: Public open parking to be provided alongside the various buildings. Total parking including beach parking is estimated at 1504 bays;
