I, Rosi Vanderheijden, of 990 Timmins Gardens, Pickering, ON, am one of many Pickering residents who love to stay active in the great outdoors year-round. The health, fitness and safety of our residents should be a top priority. In the winter months the Pickering section of the Waterfront Trail is snow and ice-covered, making it unsafe to run, jog, walk our dogs or go for a stroll on.

The section off of Elvira Court is especially treacherous as it goes down into the ravine. Maintaining the Waterfront Trail would give us a beautiful, safe place to stay active year-round.

Having lived in Ajax for 15 years, we were accustomed to trails that were cleared and accessible year-round.

The residents of Pickering deserve the same level of service.

We, the undersigned, call on Pickering Council to set forward a motion to approve snow removal along the Waterfront Trail.
