A ROUNDABOUT at the A47 Broadend Junction is a Priority, as there have far been too many needless DEATHS and INJURIES over the years at this Junction causing suffering and devastation to families.
Highway Agency is planning to spend £170k on the A47 Broadend Junction by installing new signs and double white lines. This will be the third time signs and lines have been installed in the last five years, which means the Layout will Continue to prove Ineffective.
The £170k Allocated for the A47 Broadend Junction would be better used towards a Roundabout.
It is agreed that the Layout of the Broadend Junction is Extremely Poor, and installing new signs and double while lines will NOT improve the Layout. The only way to make this Junction safer for Residents, Local Business and ALL who Use the A47 is the Installation of a Roundabout.
The Highway Agency will listen and acknowledge the concerns and views of local residents, businesses, regular users of the A47 and the parents and families of the Victims Killed and Victims Injured at this Junction, for the need to Install a Roundabout.
I obtained the following from the F.O.I. In the past 14 years to December 2012, on this stretch of road there have been 12 Fatalities and 127 Serious Injuries. If this had happened on a stretch of railway, there would a public outcry and a demand for immediate action.
We ask the Highway Agency to use the £170k Allocated for the A47 Broadend Junction towards a Roundabout and help save Irreplaceable lives, prevent Serious Injuries and allow Local Residents, Local Businesses and All who use the A47 – The Right to use the Junction without fear of their lives.

We, the undersigned, petition the Department of Transport and The Highway Agency to: INSTALL a ROUNDABOUT at the A47 BROADEND JUNCTION.
A ROUNDABOUT at the A47 Broadend Junction is a Priority, as there have far been too many needless DEATHS and INJURIES over the years at this Junction causing suffering and devastation to families.
Local Residents often use another route, even though it makes their journey longer, because the Junction is too Dangerous to Negotiate.
ROUNDABOUTS are recognised as a SAFE & EFFICIENT form of JUNCTION, particularly where Side Road Flows are High.
ROUNDABOUTS promote Safe and Efficient Traffic Flow, and are an appropriate Solution for Staggered Junctions experiencing high numbers of collisions.
The construction cost of a ROUNDABOUT is similar to the initial construction cost of a Traffic Signal, but because there are no traffic signals, equipment maintenance costs are less.
It is agreed that the LAYOUT of the Broadend Junction is Extremely Poor. The present Layout has proved INEFFECTIVE.
A ROUNDABOUT at the A47 Broadend Junction is the Best Option.
The Highway Agency tell us that Safety is their top Priority. If this is true then I hope The Highway Agency will listen and acknowledge the concerns and views of local residents, businesses, regular users of the A47 and the parents and families of the Victims Killed and Victims Injured at this Junction, for the need to Install a Roundabout.
