We are petitioning against the Livingston County Board's Tattoo Ordinance. The ordinance bans the practice of tattoos, receiving a tattoo, and the right to business ownership through an establishment involving the art form.

We feel as this ordinance violates the rights of the citizens within Livingston County. Furthermore, the tattoo ban is stripping the tattoo artists of this county of their right to not only obtain profit from potential business ownership, but not allowing them to express their passion for their art form. This Ordinance was originally established due to the Livingston County Board's concern of long term health consequences of an individual receiving a tattoo and the possibility of transmission of communicable disease.

For this reason we agree, and still ask that the ordinance seriously be reconsidered. We ask that the ban on establishing professional tattoo businesses, as well as the practice of the art in professional setting be lifted. We ask this in hopes that Livingston County, IL will again be reinstated these rights following the same regulations, codes, and rules that the State of Illinois holds for the art trade.

We the undersigned call on the Livingston County Board Members to review the Tattoo Ordinance, allowing tattoo artists to maintain business ownership, and practice their art form under the same regulations carried by the State of Illinois as a whole.
