Petition Background (Preamble):
The value of the American minimum wage in 1968 was $10.68 hr,$3.43 hr more than today at $7.25 hr ,2011.It has not risen adequately along with the cost of living, leaving many working people in poverty.
Meanwhile corporations are making record profits; giving CEO's, that already make more in one hour than a minimum wage worker makes in an entire year a 25% pay increase. This is unjust.

Petition:
We the laboring people at Earthfare recognize that the current minimum wage has not risen enough with the cost of living in the United States; therefore lessening the value of labor.
This minimum wage is not enough to provide us the due fruits of our labor which would entitle us our basic rights as Americans: the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We submit to Earthfare Incorporated; our employer,that a $10.00 hr minimum wage within this company would begin to restore those rights.
