Oxford New Pool Petition

Please help us give Oxford a much needed new pool.
The City of Oxford Swimming Club is asking you to show your support to OUR CITY by signing this petition to support the building of a new pool at Blackbird Leys.

The current pool at Temple Cowley is now in a state of disrepair. The roof leaks and there are significant problems with maintaining both pool and air temperature. The City of Oxford Swimming club struggle to get support from visiting clubs due to the condition of the building and the fact that the facilities are so limited, including parking. There is now a genuine risk of the facility failing in the next few months and if we cannot get support for the new development both public and club swimmers will be left without a pool in the area at all.

Building the new pool will reduce annual running costs by £300,000 and place more people within a 15-minute walk of the pool. The pool at Temple Cowley was built in 1938 when there was no Greater Leys estate, which has no swimming facilities. The new pool will therefore be easily accessible to more people as it is on an existing bus route.

City of Oxford Swimming Club is a growing club with over 240 swimmers who train hard day in and day out to achieve their sporting dreams, swimming before and after school/work most days these committed swimmers range from the age of 7 -70+. A record 10 swimmers from COSC representing OUR CITY have reached the National Championships this year.

Show yourselves and the club support by signing our petition and giving COSC the facilities they need to train in and the people of Oxford a local facility to use and be proud of.
