Ryde Council has sent a letter, dated 21 November, 2018, REF: T2018-01713, to residents in Walker, Donnelly and Ida Streets, outlining the proposed changes to parking in these streets.

THE CHANGES ARE:
(1) The introduction of NO STOPPING signage on the west side of Walker Street and on the corners of the intersection of Mitchell Street and Donnelly Street. (This means NO STOPPING at any time). These proposed NO STOPPING areas are marked in red on the map included with the letter from Ryde Council, and
(2) NO PARKING 5AM - 11AM MONDAY along the entire odd-numbered side of Donnelly Street (numbers 1A - 23), the entire east side of Walker Street (Putney-Tennyson Bowling Club and number 1) and outside address 24 Ida Street. These proposed NO PARKING 5AM - 11AM MONDAY areas are marked in blue on the map included with the letter from Ryde Council.

WE ASK YOU TO SUPPORT THIS PETITION WHICH OPPOSITES THESE PROPOSALS BECAUSE:

1. The Walker Street NO STOPPING issue should be a separate issue from the NO PARKING 5AM - 11AM MONDAY in Walker, Donnelly & Ida Streets issue as the congestion issues are caused by club patrons and not the waste-collection.

2. The drivers of the waste-collection trucks have no problem negotiating the streets in this neighbourhood (see photograph).

3. The inconvenience of all vehicles having to park on the odd-numbered side of the street will be considerable, has the potential to cause discord and ill-feeling and will reduce neighbourhood amenity.

4. Once the NO STOPPING and NO PARKING signage is displayed, Ryde Council will be able to fine residents penalties of $112 or $263.

5. Residents should have the right to park their motor vehicle investment in close proximity to their home for convenience and security, so long as it is done legally and in consideration of the neighbourhood.

6. It is inconvenient to us, as rate-payers, to have to deal with issues like this in the lead-up to the end of the year/holiday period, giving residents no time within which to act.

We therefore respectfully ask you, as a member of the Walker Street, Donnelly Street and Ida Street neighbourhood, to sign this petition AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - Ryde Council plans to make a final decision on this matter in February, 2019!
