It is a well-established fact that the majority of aircraft accidents occur during takeoff and landing. Placing homes adjacent to or near airport runways, within close proximity to flight paths, poses a high risk to families and property because of an aircraft failure or accident.
If the Henderson City Council approves a zoning change request to allow the Sage Mountain Ranch project to be built adjacent to and directly below the aircraft traffic pattern of the Henderson Executive Airport, hundreds of families will be located in an area of high risk caused by low-flying aircraft. The Anthem Master Plan communities as well as all of Seven Hills and Inspirada are already vulnerable to air-traffic accidents.
Property on the west side of the airport should be reserved exclusively for commercial development to avoid the potential loss of life and property because of the proximity of the Henderson Executive Airport.
We, the undersigned, consider the proposed Sage Mountain Ranch zoning change request to be a great threat to family safety, and we are greatly concerned about the increased risk of aircraft accidents during takeoff and landing operations at the Henderson Executive Airport.
We ask the Henderson City Council to vote NO on the rezoning request for the Sage Mountain Ranch project.
