Despite attempts to modify the camp for the benefit of events and the Remembrance Day Service in George Square we are being asked to dismantle the camp and move on.

We require evidence that the city citizens would like us to stay as they have so amply told us over the past two weeks of occupation.

We have two petitions - one for xmas festivities to Glasgow City council http://www.petitiononline.co.uk/petition/tell-glasgow-city-council-to-allow-occupy-glasgow-peace-camp-to-remain-in-george-square/3826 and this a second for the Remembrance Day Service.

Even though Glasgow City Council have welcomed the Occupation of Glasgow on behalf of the Global Movement to demand a fair and sustainable global economy separate from bullion stores in capitalist hands, currently being used to wield unconstitutional power and manipulate global events causing havoc and despair around the world, the council would like occupiers of the square to remove themselves to an alternative site, albeit the new site will by default have less security, lighting and visibility, let alone history.

Citizens of Glasgow have been steadily visiting the square over the past weeks supporting the occupation, apologising for not being able to take a more active role and generously offering donations to keep the movement going and have told the council as much.

However, the Council / Media are concerned that the occupiers intend to disrupt / dishonour the Remembrance Day Service on 13 Nov 2011, despite assurances from the group that no dishonour is intended. In fact we have members who are current and ex-services, some of whom are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorders, and some who may not have been cared for after discharge as well as citizens would have hoped / expected, but we are all fully aware and appreciative of the huge debt we owe to those who fought for and won our privileges today.

This movement is about something else entirely. We are trying to get the governments around the world to remember who and what it is they serve, and together with the thousands who have stood up around the world and asked their governments to support them in a wish to live sustainable lives in peace with neighbouring communities, some of them facing daily tear gas, rubber bullets, weapons and live ammunition, we also ask governments to respect those demands, and to figure out a way to allow us all to live sustainable lives in peace without encroaching on any other society in a selfish, disruptive and negative fashion.

There are some who believe that the British Legion will send service persons down to the camp to flatten it if we are viewed to intend to remain here for the service on 13 Nov 2011, despite the fact that we have tried to comply with requests for space for the service to take place and have modified the camp accordingly.

We have been assured by hundreds of the citizens of Glasgow coming through the square everyday that they, the Citizens of Glasgow wish us to stay and are sure that should the British Legion receive evidence of this they would allow us to remain and join with them in remembering the dead with respect and in peace.

This petition is to gather that evidence and we ask to to sign it and to make it viral so that we can present this evidence to the British Legion and to Glasgow City Council.

We also ask those that can to telephone, email and write to the British Legion 199 Borough High St, London SE1 1AA. Tel : 020 3207 2100 and to Land & Environmental Services, Glasgow City Council Glasgow City Council, City Chambers, Glasgow, G2 1DU Tel : 0141 287 2000 to let the Occupy Glasgow Peace Camp be and remind them of their responsibilities to the people. We are also interested to know who actually does own the hallowed ground of George Square and other properties donated to the people by the people for the Common Good.
