Simply having your nose pierced is no distraction to other students or teachers. One has made the decision to put a hole through their nose and obviously their parent(s) agreed to their decision hence them signing the forms because one is not 18; even if they are 18 it was their personal decision to do that. There are much bigger problems/distraction going on in this school. Tattoos are a distraction, but you allow that? It's okay for a teacher to have his/her tattoos showing; but, you cannot have a small hole in your nose with a pretty little diamond in it or a small little hoop. I understand that it says it in the school dress code handbook, but it also says, "likewise, unnatural hair color will not be accepted".

There are people walking around the school with blue in their hair. To me, that is 100 times for distracting than a smile little nose stud. How Grycel confronts the problem is in no way respectful to the student. She came and got me out of class, pulled me into the hall and stood in my personal space, and demanded that I get a clear nose ring or a "plug" for my nose by the next day. Believe it or not, students have plans after school: work, sports, friends, family, ect. Demanding that I drive all the way to Bellingham to get a "nose plug" is absurd; especially since there is less than 10 days left of school.

Having a nose ring or a stud is in no way shape or form distracting to students or teachers. It is a personal discision and the school does not have to support it, but demanding that the student takes it out is crossing the line. The parent(s) of the student should punish their child if it is going against their rules. But, if the parent(s) is fine with them having it, the school should not stop them from having it.

This does not distract guys from learning or distract them in any way that they shouldn't be distracted. Guys need to learn how to have respect for women. Having jewlery on your face makes a girl feel pretty.

Highschool girls have enough self concious problems as it is, and if having their nose pierced makes them feel pretty, then who are you to stop it. It is a personal descision to go through the pain and spend the money ($54) to get it done.
