Waterfowl hunters in Indiana have historically been swept under the carpet, especially the North Zone. We would like a say so in what goes on with our seasons, bag limits, state properties, etc.
You can argue that we voice our opinions with the Waterfowl Survey that is sent out to a small portion of the hunting population.
However, many of the questions on the survey are worded differently than the proposals the the state and/or federal agencies offer.
Our season begins much too early, having several days in October, closing down and reopening at the end of October or beginning of November.
Allow us to harvest 2 Scaup for a portion of the season. The Feds allowed this in their framework last season, but we were denied this by our state waterfowl biologist due to it being too complicated for us to deal with another date.
