Through their active and healthy program GCCC has entered into a partnership agreement with Australian School of Meditation and Yoga, a branch of the Science of Identity Foundation which is a religious organisation.
ASMY uses deceptive recruiment as part of a pattern of conduct recognisable in destructive cults. As the spiritual foundation of their 'yoga lifestyle' being supported through Council, they distribute literature and propagate teachings which vilify women, racial minorities, homosexuals and Christians. The guru of ASMY also condones domestic violence, polygamy for men and teaches that attatchments to family and friends are an illusion, dangerous to spiritual life.

We, the undersigned, believe that it is inappropriate for public resources to be used in promoting a religious sect and call on Gold Coast City Council to withdraw all support for and promotion of the Australian School of Meditation and Yoga.
