NO TACO BELL IN PILSEN

ALD. Danny Solis voted in favor of a zone restructuring at 24th and Western to allow a TACO BELL to be built directly across the street from an established and locally owned/operated taqueria. Growth in the neighborhood is important, but allowing a TACO BELL to be built in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood is absurd. His rubber stamp politics is selling out the people of the 25th Ward.

Why building this chain restaurant with a late-night drive-thru is a bad idea:

1. Diminish the neighborhood identity and quality of life by bringing a corporate chain that offers unhealthy options

2. Diminish small businesses in favor of a corporate chain.

3. Lower local property value by bringing in 24 hour traffic (major safety concern and inconvenience to families)

We, the undersigned call on Alderman Solis for further consideration in allowing an establishment other than a chain restaurant with a drive-thru to be built at 24th and Western, something that better reflects the social fabric of the neighborhood.
