In Uganda 16 women die daily while giving birth. These deaths are caused by limited number of midwives to attend to pregnant mothers in health facilities.Government has failed to recruit and retain health workers.
Essential medicines and supplies are limited. The government investment in health is at 8.2% as opposed to 15% as per the Abuja deceleration and Maputo plan of action.
Donors and governments must honour their commitments in investing in the health sector to prevent mothers from dying while giving birth.
