Ordinance to Amend Chapter 10.32, Section 10.32.250 of the Clark County Code Relating to Horse Roping.
Currently, Clark County Code 10.32.250 prohibits any person from intentionally tripping, causing to fall, or lassoing or roping the legs of any equine animal.

The 2013 Nevada Legislature approved SB72, which defines horse tripping as the roping of the legs or using other implements in order to intentionally trip an equine animal. SB72 does allow the catching of an equine animal by the legs and then releasing it as part of a horse roping event for which a permit has been issued to the local government where the event is conducted.

At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on July 16, 2013 staff introduced an ordinance to amend the horse tripping provision in Title 10 to allow horse roping as part of a rodeo permitted by Business License.

After the public hearing on August 6, 2013 the ordinance failed to pass and a request has been made by Commissioner Giunchigliani to reintroduce the ordinance with some changes made to the provisions regarding onsite veterinary care.

We, the undersigned, request to the Clark County Commissioners to refrain from amending Chapter 10.32 Section 10.32.250 of the Clark County Code.

We, the undersigned do not approve of any kind of horse roping in any form and wish the current Ordinance to remain in full effect and force.
