New Super Mario Bros. Wii - No Online, No Buy

New Super Mario Bros. Wii was recently announced at E3 to much excitement and anticipation. It was announced to be a 2d side scrolling platformer, with a focus on four-player cooperative play. However, Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed at his E3 roundtable interview that the game will not feature an online component.

We live in a time period where almost all games are shipped with an online component. In a game designed around the idea of multi-player, it clearly demonstrates a lack of effort on the part of the developer. We believe this is a lack of effort that should not be rewarded or encouraged.

For far too long, Nintendo has been ignoring the online component in their games and for many of us, this is the final straw. In many games, it's either implemented terribly, such as Smash Bros. Brawl, or ignored completely, such as this game and Punch-Out!! This petition represents a stand against Nintendo's attitude towards online play.

With the assistance of the undersigned, we might not be able to influence Nintendo's decision, but we might be able to show them that a good amount of care about online play.
